The world of classical music is limitless - how do I find the concert that really suits me? The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra relies on a playful concert finder.
We developed the new tool together: In just a few steps, it shows which concerts from the current programme match a certain personality type - gamification as a gateway to new classical music experiences.

A classical concert in the Dresden Philharmonie - that would be something! But I don't know much about classical music and there's so much on offer: how am I supposed to decide?
According to surveys, classical music newcomers in particular like to find out about the current programme online. The Philharmonie would like to offer them, but also everyone else, the chance to make a quick, uncomplicated and yet self-determined choice.
With the aim of attracting and inspiring new audiences, the Konzerthaus is treading innovative paths.

Whether you're a dreamy connoisseur, a risk-taking adventurer, an inquisitive brain or a tech-savvy curious person: if you click through the questions, you'll be assigned to one of four classic types. The reward for each type is three individually tailored recommendations from the current programme - including audio samples, best seat suggestions and brief information about the evening's highlights.

The birth of the digital concert guide

The Concert Finder was created as part of the digital reorganisation of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra: in joint workshops and an open working atmosphere, we developed ideas for the content, controls and functions together with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, which were continuously refined with the help of usability tests. The result is a low-threshold tool in a modern, user-friendly and barrier-free format - accessible and tangible for everyone.

Easily integrated, easy to use

Technically, the concert finder was seamlessly integrated into e-publisher:stage, the CMS from 3pc on which the Philharmonie's website is also based. After a sophisticated algorithm has determined the type of classical music in the background, an interface takes you directly to the programme recommendations - and, if desired, straight on to the ticket booking. At the same time, a comprehensive tracking system reports the preferences of potential concert fans back to the concert hall. It couldn't be more effective, neither in terms of innovative technical implementation nor for the users.

Of course, those for whom the Dresden Philharmonie is within easy reach will benefit the most - answer questions, get concert tips, go and enjoy!
But the new concert finder is also useful for everyone else: after all, suggested composers or performers can also be discovered elsewhere or online - have fun with the concert finder on the way to your new favourite music!
