Blockchain real-world laboratory: SMART Digital Summit

The SMART Digital Summit 2025 in Hürth near Cologne was an application-orientated annual conference for digital change in the Rhineland region and the strategic conclusion of the Fraunhofer research project Blockchain Reallabor.
We designed and promoted the event and supported its realisation. Its success far exceeded expectations.
Support for SMEs, local authorities and public institutions in the digital transformation: that was the focus of the SMART Digital Summit in the Rhineland region. Experts and innovative companies offered keynote speeches, practical panels, interactive deep talks and workshops and invited attendees to take part in individual quick checks where companies could find out more about real-life applications for digital technologies.
Not only did the number of participants exceed expectations by almost a quarter, but all workshops and individual consultations were fully booked.
The number of contacts with new prospective customers from companies even exceeded the target figure by a whopping 250%.
We supported the event, which was also the strategic conclusion of the Blockchain Reallabor research project, from start to finish - from the content concept and consistent design to participant acquisition and on-site presence. One important aspect was to "translate" scientific content in such a way that all target groups felt equally addressed, but without falling into "buzzword bingo" or lowering the level of sophistication.
The success of the SMART Digital Summit 2025 shows that even complex projects and research topics can be presented in such a way that they are understood and that SMEs, politicians and administrators are on board.
The best prerequisites for the SMART Digital Summits of the coming years - as regionally anchored leading events for digital structural change in the Rhineland region.
