Munich Security Conference Foundation gGmbH (MSC)

Direct communication in a world of political gestures

The Munich Security Conference (MSC): What began in 1963 as an annual "class reunion" of NATO members is now the most important gathering for international security policy and a platform for dialogue and diplomacy. A place where top politicians and government representatives can hold informal and personal talks.
We have been managing the online presence for the Munich Security Conference Foundation for years and give the MSC the opportunity to present its strengths even more convincingly: Its presence is open and transparent and invites communication more than ever - across all borders.

The whole world of international politics in one place

Our ongoing collaboration began in 2019 with the relaunch of the website, which gave MSC a modern and powerful TYPO3 presence. In addition to the concept and design, we also took on the technical implementation.

With the highest demands on usability, we restructured the content and optimised the user guidance with a slim menu and targeted navigation elements. The concise design provides a stage for the foundation's high-quality image material, while at the same time the design achieves a self-confident and modern effect through strong typography and high contrasts. Trend-setting - like the foundation itself.

The centrepiece of the website is the media library: it shines with a new design and also delivers top technical performance in the backend. Images and videos can be enriched editorially with minimal effort and made available in the front end adapted for all end devices. Thanks to its own cross-asset SOLR search, the media centre sets new standards in content research: all search results can be clicked through in a slider without visible reloading, and a dedicated share link enables individual elements to be downloaded and shared.

Large-format appearance for a large-format conference

Detailed conception, design and implementation were carried out module by module. Thanks to this agile way of working, we were able to provide an upstream microsite in record time.

Since the relaunch, we have been continuously optimising the website and developing it further: during the coronavirus pandemic, for example, there was a growing need to map both digital and hybrid events. For the Munich Security Conference 2022, we implemented a customised solution for multi-day events that allows parallel streams and a complex programme to be presented clearly.

And in the anniversary year 2024, at the start of the 60th Security Conference, the website was given a facelift - in close cooperation with an external agency, we implemented it technically in just six weeks.

Best orientation in a security architecture with little orientation

Every year, fundamental issues and current hot topics in global politics are discussed for three days. The aim of the high-calibre meeting is to promote trust and contribute to the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

We are proud to accompany the Munich Security Conference as a partner in digital communication and thus make a small contribution to global security diplomacy.

Projects with purpose

For over 30 years, we have been working with remarkable institutions from the education, science, culture, administration or business sectors.

All our projects are based on common features: their demand for a high standard of editorial quality, their complexity and the fact that they are part of a greater societal change.

Throughout our work, an innovative and strategic outlook is key. At the same time, we have the highest demands on usability, design and the underlying technology of our work. All of these components must prove sustainable in the long term.

The projects that move us are socially relevant, they matter. At the same time, they enable and inspire us to try out new ideas and concepts.

In all contexts, we value a comprehensive understanding of the diverse organizational cultures of our clients. We know how to support employees in change processes and how to moderate cultural change.

We see consulting as a joint process in which we use co-creative elements as effective and active forms of collaboration. Our aim is to involve all relevant stakeholders in finding solutions in order to achieve an optimal result that will be accepted in the long term.

Awards

Our work has received many awards. We work on projects with journalistic standards and high benchmarks for design and usability. Thanks to these criteria, 3pc was awarded the Grimme Online Award as well as other prizes.

"In a world permanently surrounded by media and technical evolution our perception is changing, user interfaces - the interfaces between human and machine - play a key role. This is where the future is negotiated and where we help shape it.“
