One for many: Website relaunch VdK

With more than 2.2 million members nationwide and over 70 years of experience in providing legal advice on health, inclusion, family and care, the German Social Association VdK sets standards. On the new website of the federal association and the 13 state associations, visitors benefit from clear and visually appealing multimedia content - and more than 60,000 volunteers find their own platform for their interests in the join-in area at district and local level.

Joint concept for a joint site
A co-creative conception process, in which representatives from all levels of the VdK social association were involved, laid the foundation for the VdK website relaunch: social policy statements and information from the VdK federal association are now accessible on the new TYPO3 site in a clear new design, as are the offerings of the 13 regional associations.

Teamwork of the units and collegial exchange
Our experts from the graphics, frontend, backend, integration and editorial units are working hand in hand to gradually bring the 14 new online presences live. At the same time, we are in constant contact with the customer, whether it's the implementation of template customisations or support with specific application questions. Regular meetings with the respective VdK contact persons and constant contact via the ticketing system have ensured a direct, targeted and collegial exchange since the start of the project.
Common visual line despite all variability
The pages are now visually consistent, barrier-free and multimedia-based. Nevertheless, thanks to the design of variable templates for modules and levels, they can be adapted to the respective requirements in terms of structure and focus. The common graphic line includes simple elements on the content level as well as more complex functions, from partial searches on certain website areas to forms or surveys.

Mitmachen.vdk.de: target group-specific and visually appealing
A set selection of templates for the mitmachen.vdk.de area also ensures that the content presented there fits seamlessly into the overall design. At the same time, technical concepts for hosting and content maintenance were incorporated into this area, which is now available to those involved at district and local level to publish their own content - easy to use, clearly structured and tailored precisely to the needs of this target group.

Sample pages as a "cheat sheet"
A new website - this is of course also a time when it is worth revising existing content or rethinking the menu structure. We provide support both in terms of conceptualisation and migration to the new system: we advise on the new page structure and menu navigation and offer TYPO3 training courses. A web manual provides general information and step-by-step instructions for each content element. And we create 20 sample pages in consultation with those responsible at national and regional association level: In this way, the possibilities of the new templates become clear on the basis of known content - and templates are created that editors on the VdK side can use as a guide for their further work.
