Teaching democracy to children: the bpb's HanisauLand app

In the comic world HanisauLand, children can experience how rabbits, hippos and wild sows build a democratic state. Since 2002, the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) has been offering a playful introduction to the topic of politics with this cross-media programme. Just in time for the 15th anniversary, we have realised the HanisauLand app. Translating political education into fun and games was the guiding principle behind the concept. Safety, a child-friendly design, interactivity and accessibility at all levels are naturally also included. This is recognised: The HanisauLand app was named App of the Month in October 2017 by the German Academy for Children's and Youth Literature.
