A striking orange box and buttons that have remained unchanged to this day - a real trademark that characterises the Wahl-O-Mat.

Since the 2002 Bundestag elections, the Wahl-O-Mat of the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb has been a success story of citizen empowerment. It has now been played more than 130 million times.

But what do we have to do with it?

The unmistakable design was created by 3pc.

In close cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb, 3pc developed the award-winning design, ergonomics and dramaturgy of the Wahl-O-Mat. For each election, we adapt the Wahl-O-Mat, optimise functions and ensure that the website edition is accessible; we also create the Wahl-O-Mat as an app for iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones.

In 2021, the Wahl-O-Mat went online with a renewed design and new interactive functions: The conception of the functionalities, the redesign including a new logo and the BITV-compliant implementation of the HTML templates were developed and programmed by 3pc. This has given the tool a fresh, modern look, improved usability and strengthened the focus on users' playful engagement with the parties' positions.

This allows users to set their own focal points in the "Tuning" function, which immediately influence the result in a recognisable way. The "Party comparison" shows the positions of up to three parties at a glance, while "Reasons for the thesis" and "Positions" show a comparison of all parties on one thesis or the positions of one party on all theses.

In addition, sign language videos, a visually impaired version and the screen reader facilitate barrier-free access.
