3pc goes Switzerland – with the Swiss family
Together with Tamedia, Switzerland’s largest private media group, we have successfully completed a digital transformation in Swiss German: schweizerfamilie.ch. For the relaunch, the 3pc team once again brought all of its expertise to bear: from concept and design to content editing and implementation in TYPO3.
Since 1893, the family magazine *Schweizer Familie* (Swiss Family) has been a successful concept in Switzerland. Now, with the website schweizerfamilie.ch, Tamedia has expanded its portfolio to include an important digital product – with the digital edition of Schweizer Familie, the ‘guide to active leisure experiences’, the media company showcases everything Switzerland has to offer: nature to make you green with envy, culinary journeys through Swiss cuisine and a wealth of ideas for the home.
Making the most of the strengths of digital media
For this ambitious project, the 3pc team once again worked together seamlessly: in collaboration with Tamedia, we developed and implemented a concept that, based on the core content of the long-established magazine, makes the most of the strengths of the digital format and focuses on its service-oriented nature.
A key strength of the new website, which runs on TYPO3, is the successful blend of a database-driven search function and editorially curated content. We have relied on the high-performance – virtually ‘intelligent’ – SOLR search, which indexes the site’s content extremely quickly and delivers it with pinpoint accuracy. In addition, the editorial team has access to further features that allow them to keep the site up to date or highlight editorial content with just a few clicks in the backend.
From an editorial perspective, we also embarked on a journey through Switzerland in the run-up to the launch and tackled enormous volumes of content within TYPO3. And now we’re delighted with the beautiful Swiss front-end panorama, which, thanks to its fully responsive design, adapts perfectly to desktops, smartphones and tablets.
