Strategic communication with storytelling
The digital information jungle is growing and growing. This raises key strategic questions for communication and brand management: how do I attract the attention of my target group in the digital noise and how do I get them excited about my products and content? Storytelling is a promising tool in this context: content is communicated with the help of exciting stories about people and experiences.
The aim is to use storytelling to bring brands and products to life and to communicate core messages and values in a playful way. In practice, storytelling is a complex method that requires the preparation of multimedia content for various channels. The creation of storytelling websites in particular involves a great deal of editorial effort.
Countless exciting stories are stored in archives, libraries and collections and remain hidden from the eyes of the public because processing the data sets is too time-consuming and resource-intensive for many editorial offices.

How does the story editor work?
The story editor guides editors through the entire editorial process - from research to story design. Every step in the creation of a storytelling website is simplified, while editorial freedom remains: individual editing of storylines as well as content and UI elements is easily possible at any time.
Content smartly analysed
Connected to the individual system landscape, the story editor accesses existing content, analyses it and provides a structured overview. The story editor uses innovative semantic processes for this: extraction of lexical information, automated clustering, entity linking and sentiment analysis.

Time-saving processing and enrichment of content
With the help of an intelligent recommendation system, editors can design storylines, embed semi-automatically enriched digitised material for illustration, prepare it for various formats and access prototypical output forms of the story.

Research made easy
The tool is also a powerful research tool: search functionalities and display options for various needs were considered and implemented during development. Semantic, time-based, geo-based and graph-based searches are all possible. This is accompanied by a prototypical user interface for semantically linked information.
Use case: The Stasi media library

How do you keep history alive? The Federal Commissioner for Stasi Records (BStU), which preserves the documents of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) of the GDR in its archives, is one of the organisations dealing with this question. The majority of the digitised documents are accessible in the award-winning Stasi media library, which we designed and implemented on the basis of semantic storytelling - an innovation. Users can access the content both rationally and emotionally: While the semantic search provides targeted results, users can also "stroll" along the editorially created stories and collections. Semantic links parallel to the storyline enable exploratory access and invite users to "browse".
