“Ach, Mensch” – Campaign design for the DSO’s 2026/2027 season

Up close: For the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin’s 2026/2027 season campaign, we’re putting people centre stage. Black-and-white photographs meet bright pink lettering and thought-provoking questions. Together with the DSO, we’re evolving the brand identity – making it personal, expressive and embracing a fresh perspective.
Big emotions, seen up close
Robin Kater’s seasonal photographs feature close-ups of faces: a smile, a downcast gaze, a pensive moment. Close-up frames create a sense of intimacy and leave room for the viewer’s own reflections. Superimposed on these are questions and brief statements that surprise, move and inspire further thought. In this way, the seasonal theme becomes a personal encounter.

A familiar identity, a new expression
The DSO design scheme bridges the new look with previous seasons. To achieve this, we have used grey gradients, clear informational typography and three-dimensional, glossy lettering in pink. The interplay between dynamic, angular and playful letters gives the messages a character all of their own. In the season brochure, these elements come together to create a visual identity that provides clarity whilst also showcasing the emotional diversity of the season.

With Kazuki Yamada as its new principal conductor, a new chapter is beginning for the DSO. Under the theme ‘Oh, Human’, the season explores the many facets of the human condition: from joie de vivre to despair, from love to responsibility. The music invites us to listen and empathise – and to ask questions of ourselves and our relationships with one another.
