Digital transformation for sustainable remembrance

The Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) commemorates the victims of National Socialist injustice, supports survivors and keeps the memory of the fates of those persecuted by National Socialism alive for future generations. It promotes projects to strengthen civil society, initiates educational programmes and stands up for the dignity and rights of all people. In doing so, it faces a wide range of communication tasks.
Remembrance in the future - 20 years of the EVZ Foundation
To mark the 20th anniversary of the foundation, we have ventured into the digital age. Together with the Foundation EVZ, we have further developed the website for a younger target group. How do we promote long-term user loyalty? More interaction! The site offers communicative interfaces for its users. Because remembrance thrives on exchange!

Milestones in the reappraisal and history of the foundation as a timeline
Our task: to embed the Foundation's broad digital range of future-oriented remembrance culture in a target group-oriented design and function-optimised technical handling.

A manifesto for the future
Who does the Foundation EVZ want to reach? How does it communicate with the target group? In workshops, we went in search of the relevant target groups and their needs and points of contact with the website.

A diverse target group
During implementation, our concept developers placed particular emphasis on creating communicative interfaces for known and new project organisers, political actors, journalists and, above all, young users - with plenty of room for participation and interaction and a new, intuitive navigation structure.

Wanted. Found!
The headless Solr search, for example, enables partial searches for the project finder and the list of companies that have paid into the foundation initiative.
Don't let memories fade
CI colours in selected places now set new accents, teasers with the funding priorities bring dynamism to the homepage. The website fulfils all the requirements of a contemporary and inviting design and at the same time contributes to an appropriate discussion of the sensitive and complex content of the foundation's work.

Reach your destination quickly
The navigation structure developed by 3pc and the EVZ Foundation team makes it possible: special topics are now displayed individually in the main navigation. The advantage: The Foundation EVZ editors can specifically point out and tease sub-topics such as the "Educational agenda Nazi injustice" or the "EVZ Academy expanded". As a result, this means significantly greater effectiveness for the editorial team while maximising user-friendliness.

Customised
The specially programmed media library extension is the ideal solution for configuring content such as audios, videos and publications of the foundation centrally in the backend on the one hand and for displaying them on various pages in a decentralised manner on the other.
High usability in the front and back end
The open source CMS TYPO3 offers optimum user-friendliness in everyday editorial work. Users can access their content directly with the high-performance search function developed by us.
Thinking internationally: The barrier-free realisation of the website enables a cross-border culture of remembrance. The Foundation EVZ website is also available in Russian and English.
