Teamwork day after day: 15 years of online editing for bpb.de

Angela Merkel

We have been looking after the bpb since 2003 - and have grown with it, its needs and requirements. It all began with one major project, the first relaunch, and two editors. Since then, we have realised more than 750 large and small projects. Our experienced editorial team of ten works side by side with colleagues from Bonn and Berlin on a daily basis for bpb.de. And we still have the same enthusiasm as we did 17 years ago - editorial work at the highest level and co-creative development of current formats and technologies: that is our claim.

Dossiers - the heart of bpb.de

The dossiers are the most important format on bpb.de. At the beginning of our editorial work, we developed them conceptually together with the bpb. The dossiers now cover pretty much every topic in political education: From labour market, health or pension policy, extremism, autonomous art in the GDR, Europe, the USA, domestic conflicts to climate change and the Anthropocene. We have worked closely with the bpb on numerous dossiers and brought them online: from author management to content migration, from image research to graphic design, from the production of teaser texts to editing.

Your daily dose of politics

Historical anniversaries, political events, social discussions: Every morning, users of the bpb Messenger channel "Your daily dose of politics" receive short explanatory texts on politics and history and background information on current topics and debates directly to their smartphones. The messenger service was honoured with the Politics Award in 2018.

In 2018, "Deine tägliche Dosis Politik" was honoured with the Politikaward.

Posting, podcast, quiz, community management

From Monday to Friday, the 3pc editorial team researches current and historical topics for the messenger channel and creates a text proposal for the post following a briefing from the bpb. We also regularly produce the posts as audio posts, podcasts or quizzes. We also use our community management to communicate directly with readers and provide daily answers to arouse interest in political topics, especially among the young target group.

Backend acrobats, communication talents and creative minds

We are diversity experts and communication talents - because: In our daily workflow, we receive various enquiries and projects that require quick rethinking and efficient implementation. Whether it's the morning editorial team for the bpb.de homepage, current events that need to be on the site quickly or a new concept for one of the many satellite projects. We are always there for the bpb with new ideas.

"After a good 17 years of Wahl-O-Mat editing, everyone involved has the processes in their blood. A quick shout is usually enough and everyone knows what to do."

Sonia Binder, Project Manager Wahl-O-Mat at 3pc

Geschichte des Designs des Wahl-O-Mat

Our favourite: the Wahl-O-Mat

Since 2003, we have been producing the Wahl-O-Mat together with the bpb for almost every state, European or federal election. In addition to the design and front-end implementation, we take on the project coordination and ensure that the tool is published on bpb.de in time for the press conference.

Projects with purpose

For over 30 years, we have been working with remarkable institutions from the education, science, culture, administration or business sectors.

All our projects are based on common features: their demand for a high standard of editorial quality, their complexity and the fact that they are part of a greater societal change.

Throughout our work, an innovative and strategic outlook is key. At the same time, we have the highest demands on usability, design and the underlying technology of our work. All of these components must prove sustainable in the long term.

The projects that move us are socially relevant, they matter. At the same time, they enable and inspire us to try out new ideas and concepts.

In all contexts, we value a comprehensive understanding of the diverse organizational cultures of our clients. We know how to support employees in change processes and how to moderate cultural change.

We see consulting as a joint process in which we use co-creative elements as effective and active forms of collaboration. Our aim is to involve all relevant stakeholders in finding solutions in order to achieve an optimal result that will be accepted in the long term.

Awards

Our work has received many awards. We work on projects with journalistic standards and high benchmarks for design and usability. Thanks to these criteria, 3pc was awarded the Grimme Online Award as well as other prizes.

"In a world permanently surrounded by media and technical evolution our perception is changing, user interfaces - the interfaces between human and machine - play a key role. This is where the future is negotiated and where we help shape it.“
