What type of climate protector are you?

Climate change affects us all. Everyone can make a difference with their behaviour. In order to address climate change and motivate more people to act in a climate-friendly way, we designed and implemented the "How do you click?" tool on behalf of the Federal Government Press and Information Office.

The aim was to develop a tool that encourages people to engage with political issues in a low-threshold, interactive and informative way.
A tool for political communication
Based on the classic personality tests, the tool is a fun way to find out which climate protection type best suits you. Whether you are a Preserver, an Innovator or an Activist, by clicking through a series of questions you not only find out more about yourself, but are also encouraged to rethink your own actions. In order to provide assistance for a more climate-friendly everyday life, users receive customised climate protection tips as well as the opportunity to find out more on other pages of the Federal Government.

Strategy development and creative process
Together with the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government, we transferred the tool into concrete implementation: At the beginning of the strategy development process, we dealt intensively with the topic of climate protection communication and analysed the prevailing attitudes in the population and identified and sharpened the objectives and target groups. Central questions were always at the centre of the solution approaches: How can users be motivated to participate? What added value can the tool offer? What information can be communicated?
Click on what makes you tick and find out who you are: the test invites you to scrutinise and get to know yourself.

The climate protection types brought to life
The test was developed and verified with the help of user surveys: What do young people think about climate protection? In which areas of life do they come into contact with it?
Together with scientists from the field of environmental psychology, we used this as a basis to identify and develop the question matrix and evaluation system as well as six climate protection types.
With this test, we have created an easy introduction to the topic of climate protection without lacking any seriousness or depth.

Certified barrier-free design
The design is essential for an optimal user experience: it guides users through the test - clearly, without detours and unambiguously. Certified barrier-free, it emphasises the content and does without images. Instead, the illustrations of the climate protection types are shown to their best advantage.
Safety-tested and sustainable
The application is also technically lean and secure: no usage data is stored and only the front end is accessible online, which makes the site particularly fast and secure. Sustainable use has also already been considered: "How do you click?" can be connected to other topics and is ready for new editions.
